SERVICE INFORMATION
We specialise in performing routine fire damper maintenance and inspection, as well as audit and repair, to let you meet and exceed legislative requirements and give you peace of mind.
To go in line with your future budgets, we can implement service agreements dividing fire damper inspections over a period of 5 years (20% per year as per the Australian Standard).

Regulations
Building regulations exist to ensure the safety and comfort of building users. In Australia’s States and Territories, this is regulated through the provisions outlined in the Building Code of Australia (the BCA).
The BCA provides detailed guidance on performance and construction requirements for various building types and frequently references applicable Australian Standards. These documents detail specifications and procedures designed to ensure products, services and systems are safe, reliable and consistently perform the way they were intended to.
The BCA covers several areas that directly relate to our products including Section C 3.15 Openings for service installations ‘Ventilation & air-conditioning’, and C3.12 Openings in floors and ceilings for services.
Installation and Repair
D Tech-Engineering’s Fire Damper range is designed to impede the spread of fire and/or combustible products (e.g. smoke) through masonry, lightweight partition or shaft wall openings to other fire compartments of an air-handling system, and to protect penetrations in the ceiling membrane portion of fire-rated ceilings. D Tech-Engineering’s Fire Dampers are suitable for air-conditioning, ventilation and heating systems in commercial buildings.
The range includes:
- Curtain Fire Damper
Single Blade Fire Damper
- Slab Fire Damper
- Ceiling Fire Damper
- Round Fire Damper
Intumescent Fire Damper

Checks and Verification
Fire dampers are passive fire protection products used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) ducts to prevent the spread of fire inside the ductwork through fire-resistance rated walls and floors.
We specialise in performing routine fire damper maintenance and inspection, as well as audit and repair, to let you meet and exceed legislative requirements and give you a peace of mind.
To go in line with your future budgets, we can implement service agreements dividing fire inspections over a period of 5 years (20% per year as per the Australian Standard).
The following procedure is in accordance with AS 1851-2005
1. Locate and identify fire damper
2. Check and ensure that the fire damper is in place, open and free of obstruction
3. Install duct access panels where necessary for visual inspections
4. Check mounting is sound and free of corrosion
5. Clean damper free from dirt and lubricate blade pivots
6. Release the thermal link to ensure closure and latching ( replace thermal link and release spring if required )
7. Provide Certification Report to you, the Client:
- Fire damper inspection report
- Listing the location of every damper
- Damper number corresponding with the clients completed construction drawings
- Whether the damper has passed or failed inspection
- If the damper has failed the inspection, a detailed explanation will be provided
The failure rate of a fire damper that has not been inspected or maintained is very high, don’t risk it.
